Presenting a expertly crafted Murano Sommerso emerald green and Aventurine gold flecks sculpted art glass fish figurine.
Avventurina or (Aventurine in English) is one of the most popular Murano Glass techniques, distinguished by sparkling particles, typically gold, captured in translucent glass.
The technique and style of this figurine is attributed to Italian Master Glass Artist Archimede Seguso. Learn more and see other examples of Seguso's fishes (and other examples of his art glass) via recognised sites such as Collectors Weekly and Kovels or curated sites such as 1stDibs. I also highly recommend visiting the Murano Zoo website (https://sites.google.com/site/muranozoo/) to see more beautiful examples of Seguso and other Murano artists for fish and other creatures.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Born in 1909, shy, brilliant and quite distinguished, Archimede Seguso was a man of intellect, he used the art of glass making to express himself. Seguso would come up with different methods and techniques never seen before in glass making and it was this boldness mixed with his genius that positioned him as a reference point for other artists and artisans.
Excellent, no chips, cracks or scratches. There is age-wear (wear which is commensurable with age of piece) of few movement marks on base of fish and are not visible when the figurine is upright, mentioned for completeness. Please do see photos as part of condition report.
