This tactile and sculpted work of studio pottery is by German ceramists Maria & Schott for Töpferei Schott, Petershagen. The combination of this colour palette and the form is a particularly rare find.
From the form to the glaze, the sophisticated technique, artistic skill and level of detail in this piece is stunning. The stylised cylinder form has been gently 'pinched' at two opposing points, creating beautifully organic and drape-like folds. Inbetween the draped sides, are the exquisitely detailed reliefs of anemone-like tendrils in Stone beige. The base drip glaze is a semi-matte, pale Coastal blue which has accents of a deeper shade of blue crystalline glaze. The base glaze is overlaid with accents of Sand, Stone beige and dappling of densely freckled white.
Excellent. No chips, cracks, scratches or repairs. There is mild use wear, most evident in light movement marks on the underside of the base and which are commensurate with age. It should be noted that there are two negligible hairline fractures c. 0.5 mm which come from the crafting process and are not damage. Please refer to photos as they form part of the condition report. The base is inscribed with Maria and Schott's signature.
