THE ITEM

The wonder of iridescent glass is when you think you're only looking at one or a few colours, and you are, but your eyes are also seeing a myriad of colours which have coalesced into that single or a few colours. You're seeing more than your eyes, or anyone else's eyes can handle in one go.

This wonder is very much evident in this piece of Art Nouveau influenced Poschinger art glass. The lightly ruffled rim gently ripples, the curves creating an ideal canvas to catch the light and reveal the colours in the opalescent surface. There is pale gold, a hint of pink, of the palest purple and indigo, and of course, the pearly translucent white. This is interwoven by the pale aqua and turquoise 'hearts and vines' threading.

A stunning piece of art to for display or use.

A BIT OF HISTORY

The von Poschinger barons are among the oldest families in Bavaria; the first Poschinger was mentioned in a document as far back as 1140.
Poschinger Glass is made in Frauenau, Germany and is the only German glass manufacturer specialising in custom manufacturing. One of the oldest family-run firms in the industry, the first glass foundry bought by the family dates all the way back to 1568, and fifteen generations of sons have run the business since then!

Over all these years, the Poschinger family has maintained a reputation for creating some of the finest Art Nouveau glass in the world. Everything they create is made by hand, and the sandblasted ‘P’ for Poschinger is the hallmark that signifies the authenticity of each piece.
