If you're a fan of vintage Swedish art glass, then you'll likely find yourself drawn to Paul Kedelvs Coquille range. This particular piece is in exceptional condition, having survived 64 years with but a few movement scratches to its base. The rich cranberry pink bears small dips of milk white before being cased and footed in clear glass. The svelte organic form gently curls like the edges of a shell that inspired the range.
CONDITION
Excellent, only a few movement marks to the base commensurable with age.
The base bears Keldevs signature, the etched Flygsfors and '54' denoting its age.

A BIT OF HISTORY
Flygsfors was a glassworks established in Sweden in 1888, initially to make window glass. Their glassworks evolved beautiful harmonious designs in the 1940s and 50s at a time when little was happening in the glassworks of Europe. During the 1950's they led the world in the volume and creativity of their designs.
In 1949, Paul Kedelv joined Flygsfors and during his time there, he created the most popular and recognisable ranges of art glass ever manufactured at the company. In 1952, he designed the iconic Coquille (which means shell in Swedish) range of art glass. This range of art glass was distinguished by its organic forms with cased layers of transparent and opaque coloured glass, and was inspired by sea shells.
The Coquille line was the biggest seller for Flygsfors, after Kedelv left in 1956, any items signed Coquille / Flygsfors were without his signature. Over the years, Keldev signed Coquille pieces have become highly collectable and sought after.
