THE ITEM
This smooth work of Modernist spage-age design was designed by Heinz Martin for Jopeko Keramiks.
The UFO form was very widely adopted into Industrial design and design for the home at the time this piece was produced. Fat Lava decor was also very popular in the design of interior decor pieces. This particular piece combines both the classic flowing yet mildly exaggerated contours of the UFO form with a glossy Ink glaze that has been finished with the band of stylised white lava decor.
CONDITION
Excellent. No chips, cracks, scratches or repairs. There is mild use wear, most evident in movement marks on the underside of the base and which are commensurate with age. Please refer to photos as they form part of the condition report. The base is inscribed with 'W GERMANY' and the model number '47 15'.

A BIT OF HISTORY
Jopeko (1948 - present)
Jopeko Keramiks was founded in 1948 by Johann Peter Korziliu and Jopeko still exists today as a family-run business in the town of Ransbach-Baumbach. They no longer mass manufacture, instead, Jopeko utilises their facilities to assist studio potters, providing use of equipment and production of limited runs of items.
