Hilborn Art Pottery Studio Espresso Brown, Gold and Blue Relief Decor Dish | 1980s, Canadian
THE ITEM This sculpted work of handmade art pottery is by Canadian ceramic artist Nancy Hilborn of Hilborn Pottery Design.
The dish is very tactile and in a form reminiscent of a blooming poppy and the sgraffito decor brings to mind Art Nouveau design. The glaze carries a metallic sheen and is a swirling mix of rich tones favoured by Hilborn in a palette of Espresso brown interspersing with golden browns and diffused ink blue.
This sweet piece would be great for decorative display or for functional use as a dish for a dip or snacks.
